For this commercial I was freelancing as their 3D Modeler & 2D Tweener/Inker. The commercial was for a new candy product made by Topps called a Juicy Drop Pop. They wanted to only use 3D for fast effect shots and do a photo shoot for the other shots. But after seeing intial renders of my model with texture and lighting they felt it looked better than if the candy was shot by a camera. As the project went on I also had to model the bag of Juicy Drop Chews, Ring Pops and Wacky Packages sticker packs. Also because of my background in 2D animation I was used as an inker and tweener for the cel animated sequences. I was really pleased with the end result and how realistic the model and textures I made from scratch turned out. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using both Paper & Pen and the software Photoshop and Maya.

For this commercial I was freelancing as their 3D Modeler. The commercial was for a new candy product made by Topps called a Juicy Drop Pop. Above is a still of the product with the cap off. I created this model from scratch and also needed to recreate the label for the texture because the round surface could not be scanned. The candy itself was a simple model but the shader was complex, I needed to make it semitransparent, refractive and have little bubbles inside. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using the software Maya.

For this commercial I was freelancing as their 2D Tweener/Inker. This one in a set of commercials that were to promote a call in event for Cartoon Network. Each character was to be interupted by their cell phone during an existing cartoon. We had to recreate a section of the cartoon so we could alter it. I did mostly inking and some tweening, but I was allowed to design and do the cell phone screen animations myself. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using both Paper & Pen and the software Photoshop and After Effects.

This animation was done at Radical Axis as a test for a 3D version of their logo. The logo was going to be used as the bug on their demo reel. 3D would have solved thier problem of the circles disappearing when done in After Effects as 2D element. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using the software Maya.
This animation was done at Radical Axis as a test for Cartoon Network .com logo bumper. The point was to make it look like the logo was made of gelatin. This was done completely within Maya and it is 3D. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using the software Maya.
For this commercial I was freelancing as their 2D Tweener, Inker and colorist. I also did some of the compositing/sequencing in After Effects. These commercials were used as bumps to promote Kid's Day for Cartoon Network Latin America. It featured the Kids Next Door characters waiting around looking tired and bored. Kid's Day in Latin America is a holiday that celebrates children and is a day to have fun. This project was done at Radical Axis Studios using both Paper & Pen and the software Photoshop and After Effects.

For this project I worked as Animation Art Director. UPN Atlanta was looking for a station id bumper that had a new cg character. We designed Unit Phive9 for the channel. As Animation Art Director I was responsible for the bringing the animation together and handing out the work to the other animators. We decided to do simple animation involving the main character trying to start up a pieced together television to watch UPN. The character was rigged and modeled under my supervision; also a very basic Atlanta skyline was modeled and textured. The piece was finished with a little compositing and some post effects. This project was done at X Factory Studios using the software Maya & 3D Studio Max.
For this project, Soar with the Hawks, I worked as the Animation Art Director. The Atlanta Hawks were looking for a commercial to bring in more ticket sales and we did this short commercial featuring one character and a hawk. As the Animation Art Director I was responsible for the bringing the animation together and handing out the work to the other animators. We decided to do a 3D version of the Hawks mascot / logo. I did a bulk of the character animation myself and tweaked the hawk's animation. Also I had to build new textures for the character model to match the teams current uniform. We were told that the piece ultimately aired on the big screen at the stadium. This project was done at X Factory Studios using the software Maya & 3D Studio Max.
For this project, Makos Bumper, I worked as the Project Manager for a monitor based bumper for the local bar & club. On this particular one I also worked as the Modeler and Animator. The owner of this club wanted a 3D version of his business card design. I took the shark element off the card and the logo and modeled both them and club name to be a 3D replica. The 3D model of the shark was kept simple and meant to not be realistic. To give more of an underwater feel I allowed the texture to "slip" on the shark model, making it look like it was swimming through the texture. And then in post I added a simple ripple and wave effect in After Effects to distort the whole image. This project was done at X Factory Studios using the software Maya & 3D Studio Max.
For this project, Frequency Bumper, I worked as the Project Manager for a monitor based bumper for the local bar & club. The importance of this piece was the ability for it to loop over and over between segments and advertisements on the club’s monitors. Frequency was a techno and dance club and I designed the look of the piece to emulate that kind of music and also to have a fly through motion. This project was done at X Factory Studios using the software Maya & 3D Studio Max.
